Fishing the West Coast
Annual Photography Contest and Archive Project

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society aims to present and promote the history of Canada’s West Coast fishing industry. As part of this mandate, we wish to document various aspects of the commercial fishery and collect stories and experiences to share with the public of today and tomorrow.  The Fishing the West Coast Annual Photography Contest and Archive Project is one of the Society’s strategies to preserve the knowledge and the memory of the industry as it is today.

By participating in this contest, you will be helping to document events and activities relating to BC’s fishing industry from the past year.

At the end of the contest, all of the submitted photographs will be added to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society Archive Collection. We hope you will respond enthusiastically to our invitation to take an active part in preserving the legacy of Canada’s West Coast fishing industry.

The contest is open to all members of the public.
